Kevin Andia

I am a third-year PhD student in Hispanic Linguistics and Language Science. I am currently part of the Dussias Brain Tracking Lab under the supervision of Dr. Giuli Dussias and completing a lab rotation at the Cognition of Adult Language Acquisition Lab with Dr. Manuel Pulido. My research focuses on bilingual language processing, with particular attention to how L2 speakers use linguistic information unique to the L2 during online comprehension. I work with Mapuche bilinguals in Chile, exploring how different linguistic experiences shape processing strategies. More broadly, my work examines cross-language interactions in the bilingual mind, building on findings that have documented L2 influence on the L1 while contributing to the understanding of reciprocal effects between a bilingual’s languages and the cognitive mechanisms underlying them.
