2015-2015 National Italian American Foundations NIAF on Campus Fellowship

Italian major, Anna Centrella was recently named a NIAF on Campus Fellow. She will work with fellows and faculty from universities across the nation to discuss how best to engage and support emerging campus leaders in the Italian American community. 2015 Undergraduate Research Exhibition

Winner: Antagonist and Environment: The Duality of Giacomo Leopardi's Nature

Congratulations to Italian major Grace Rambo for winning second place for the Humanities Division at the Undergraduate Research Exhibition for her work on Giacomo Leopardi. Rambo uses ecocriticism to consider the early 19th century poet’s work.

Flad Scholarship

In memory of Giovanna ‘Jennie’ Sanquedolce Barbera and Sarah Barbera Flad, this scholarship supports exceptional students of Italian each year. The award, made possible by the Tom and Karen Flad Fund in Italian, has supported innovative projects in digital media as well as study abroad experiences.

Penn State Students Publish in Luogo Comune Magazine

Students in an Honors section of Italian 3 pared with the Puglia based Luogo Comune Magazine.

The November 2011 issue of the magazine published an interview with the students regarding street art and Arts Fest in State College. All of the writing was initiated by the students. Complimenti!
