Biography:

I am currently the Director of the Spanish Basic and Intermediate Language Programs. I have been teaching Spanish at Penn State since 2007. I usually teach language and culture courses in the Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese Department. In addition to these courses, I teach a method class (Spanish 502: Theory and Techniques of Teaching Spanish) to new graduate students. The goal of this course is to familiarize incoming Spanish language instructors with the philosophy and theory consonant with the Spanish Basic Language Program. Also, I lead two Faculty-Led Summer Education Abroad Programs in Spain.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Education from the University of Málaga. Then, I continued my studies by completing the Masters of Arts degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language at the National University of Distance Education (Madrid, Spain). When I was completing this graduate program, I had the unique opportunity to meet some of the top leading scholars in linguistics and start a second Masters of Arts degree in Spanish at Penn State. This Master of Arts was crucial for my theoretical and applied linguistics background and well-founded coordinating experience.
