SPAN 355 Topics in the Cultures of Latin America – Latin America in Pop Culture

This course explores how Latin America is represented and debated through film, music, literature, television, and digital media. Through the analysis of influential texts and cultural icons, students examine how questions of identity, nation, race, gender, and social change are constructed and contested. The course introduces critical tools from cultural studies to better understand how cultural productions shape public imaginaries of the region in both local and global contexts.
