Biography
María Alejandra is a Ph.D. student in the Spanish and Latin American Literature program. Her research focuses on language as an interdisciplinary meeting point, constantly in dialogue with the human sciences, the arts, and cultural history. Since her undergraduate studies, she has been interested in representation, book and publishing history, and the intersections of politics and culture in the 19th century.
Her first master’s thesis explores the reception of Greco-Roman classical references in Colombian political projects, with a particular focus on the muses and their social function at the Teatro Colón in Bogotá.
In addition to her academic research, María Alejandra has worked as an academic book editor, specializing in stylistic editing in Spanish. She has also served as a university lecturer in academic writing courses, encouraging students’ potential in communicative and argumentative skills through both written and oral expression.
