The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese offers an exciting education abroad program in Ronda, Spain. This program is the perfect way to learn Spanish while being engaged in the culture of Spain. Ronda is a small city of about 35,000 people located in the province of Malaga, in Andalusia, in southern Spain.
Its history goes back as far as the Neolithic period. Ronda is in a mountainous area, situated in an impressive escarpment. The Guadalevin River gorge divides the city into old and new Ronda. The river lies nearly 350 feet below the bridges that span the canyon. The most famous bridge built in the eighteenth century is called “Puente Nuevo” (New Bridge).
In Ronda, classes will be taught by Penn State faculty and local professors. You will live with a Spanish host family (prearranged homestay):
- Living with a host family will be the best way to learn Spanish!
- It will also be the best way to know the Spanish culture!
- Your host family will talk to you only in Spanish and will treat you as family!
- You will stay in a single room. Half board (breakfast and lunch), and laundry are included in the program.
