Andrew is a MA/Ph.D. student in Hispanic Linguistics. Before coming to Penn State, he earned a BA at Wesleyan University where he studied Hispanic and English Literature. For his undergraduate thesis, Andrew studied the continuity and change of the Spanish language in the city of Boston, focusing on how speakers perform regional identities in the context of marginalization. His current research interests include the ways in which race has been mapped onto language in the modern era, Spanish in settings of lectal and linguistic contact, and methodologies in corpus linguistics. Beyond language studies, Andrew enjoys a long hike, good pizza and springtime.
