ANGEL homework

  • How much is my ANGEL homework worth? 
    • The required ANGEL homework assignments account for 10% of your overall grade. The remaining 90% will be made up of exams, writing assignments, and participation scores.
  • I missed an assignment in ANGEL, can I get an extension? 
    • It is your responsibility to complete the online coursework in the week provided. If you are unable to complete the work, you must contact your instructor immediately. We do not grant extensions on ANGEL homework.


  • How many classes am I allowed to miss? 
    • You are allowed to have two unexcused absences throughout the semester. These are to cover things such as illness, weddings, funerals, job interviews, etc. For more information on absences, please see the Policies Document for your level of Spanish.


  • How will my escrituras be evaluated? (PDF)
  • Where can I find the topics for the escrituras (writing assignments)?
    • The topics for the out-of-class escrituras are listed in your syllabus. The topics for the in-class escrituras will be provided by your instructor in class on the day of the assignment.


  • How many Exams will we have?
    • There will be a total of four (4) exams throughout the semester. There will be an oral exam and three written exams. Exams 1, 2 and 3 will each consist of listening comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and a short essay. The oral exam is a 5 minute dialogue between two students and will take place in class.
    • Spanish 2 and 3 students: You will take 3 exams throughout the semester. There is no exam during finals week. These exams are to be taken outside of the regular class period at the Pollock Testing Center in Pollock Building. You will be required to register with the testing center one week prior to the exam date (an email will be sent to you prior to the exam to register).
    • Spanish 10 and 20 students:You will take your exams in class on the day of the exam. The third exam will be a cumulative final held during finals week.

  • Do I need headphones for the exams? (Spanish 2 and 3 only)
    • Yes. You are responsible for supplying your own headphones for the exams. The Testing Center does not have any headphones to loan to students. If you arrive at the Testing Center without your headphones, you will not be able to take the exam and will be asked to reschedule.
  • Can I use scratch paper during the exam? (Spanish 2 and 3 only)
    • Yes. You will be provided with a piece of bar-coded scracth paper when entering for your exam. This is the only form of paper you will be permitted to use during the exam. When exiting the testing center, you will be required to scan and return your scratch paper to the testing center staff. Failure to do this will result in an F for your final course grade.
  • How will the oral exams be evaluated? (PDF)
  • Where can I find information about the Final exams?
    • There are no exams during finals week for Spanish 1, 2 or 3. If you are taking Spanish 10 or 20, you can view the final exam schedule here.



  • Do I need to purchase a new textbook for my Spanish class?
    • Yes. Each new textbook comes with an access code that is required in order to view the multimedia files within your ANGEL homework. You are not able to purchase the code by itself, it is currently only offered as a package with a new textbook. Please DO NOT purchase a used book as you will not be able to use the access code. For more information on these codes, please see the Access Code page on our website.
