Spanish Minor
The Spanish Minor
All students wishing to complete a Spanish Minor must take a minimum of 18 credit hours of Spanish at the Spanish 100 level and higher.

SPAN 215 (Intro. to Spanish Linguistics) or 253W (Intro. to Hispanic Literature)
Take three courses (9 cr.) from the list below. At least TWO (6 cr.) must be at the 400 level.

SPAN 199, 299, 399 and 499 (Study Abroad…Spanish) and SPAN 197, 297,397 and 497 (Special Topics Courses, if taught in Spanish) may also be applied to the Spanish minor and be will substituted for the appropriate course by the Spanish minor advisor. All courses taken abroad must be taught in Spanish and be focused on Spain or Latin America.
NOTE
Spanish 130, 131, 230, 231 and any course that does not require a knowledge of Spanish DO NOT count toward the Spanish minor.
*Students who took SPAN 110 prior to Fall 2013 may substitute 110 in place of SPAN 200. The student’s audit will be corrected automatically by the Spanish Department before the student graduates. The SPAN Minor may be declared through eLion once a student is in 5th semester standing and officially in a major.

Please be aware that Spanish 100A is the prerequisite for Spanish 301. These courses will have to be taken
over two separate semesters. They cannot be taken simultaneously.
