Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese - Professor in Hispanic Literature/Culture
The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Professor in the area of Hispanic Literature/Culture, with the possibility of a named professorship, to begin in August, 2010. We seek a distinguished scholar with an established record of successfully mentoring graduate students and of effective teaching who will contribute centrally to our growing program. While particular area of specialization is open, the ideal candidate will have a proven record of carrying out cross- or interdisciplinary research that can forge connections across traditional disciplinary boundaries.
Applications received on or before December 1, 2009 will receive first priority, although all applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. L'aquila Fundraising - UNICO and the Italian Student Society
In April of last year, the Italian town of L'aquila was devastated by a massive earthquake that tore down thousand year old building, killing 307, and leaving thousands upon thousands homeless. Today the citizens of L'Aquila are still without fresh water, food, and are still living in tents. On October 22nd, 2009, The Happy Valley chapter of UNICO national, working with the Penn State undergraduate Italian Student Society, oragnized and hosted a dinner which raised $700 for those still suffering in the Abruzzo region.
